According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo is moving closer to a return to Manchester United.

Ronaldo, who was playing for Real Madrid against LA Galaxy last night, is apparently stalling on signing a new contract, leaving his future at the Bernabeu in doubt. The Portuguese forward is demanding £330,000-a-week to stay in the Spanish capital - a figure Real Madrid are not prepared to offer.

With the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale, the Daily Star have reported that Madrid are willing to sell Ronaldo in an attempt to raise the £105million they will pay Tottenham for the Welshman.

The paper is reporting that United and Madrid have spent the last two weeks negotiating an £80m deal with David Moyes increasingly confident that he can bring the player to Old Trafford.
His teammate Mesut Ozil has now revealed that he is concerned about the possibility of Ronaldo leaving the club and insists he is important to any future success they will have.

Ozil is quoted as saying in the Evening Standard: “Ronaldo is very important to the team, just look at all the goals he has scored.
“He’s a great person. I hope he can stay here for a long time because he can help us win important titles.
“We have come very close to winning the Champions League and that leaves a very bitter taste.
“What we hope is that we can go further this season. I believe we are good enough to make the final.”
