Learning to write research proposals
is one of the core skills academic scholars need to learn to master.
There is no single format for research proposals, as every research
project is different. In addition, different disciplines, donor
organizations and academic institutions all have different formats and
requirements. There are, however, several key components and sets of
criteria which must be taken into account when writing successful
academic research proposals. This course will impart participants with
the knowledge on these key issues.
In recognizing this, the teams of experts have prepared an intensive one week course on developing an academic research proposal for postgraduate students.
Course Outlines
This course is designed to offer skills on how to write an academic research proposal. Issues to be covered include:
- Formulation of research objectives , research questions, theoretical and conceptual frameworks
- How to review relevant literature for the research
- Academic Writting
- Research methodologies (qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods)
- Referencing
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to;
- acquire the necessary skills on writing academic research proposal
- Have an improved version of their concept papers into a researchable academic proposal.
Requirements
Applicants must have the following
- Idea on what he/ she needs to write on the proposal (research problem)
- The needed references for literature review
- Basic knowledge on ICT
- Be in the process of writing an academic proposal -preferably at a postgraduate level (Masters/ PhD)
- A concept paper on their proposed research
Delivery mode & Dates
Hands
on practices on developing research proposals for academic purposes,
therefore, trainees will be working on their own proposals for
improvement.
The training will take place on 6 May 2013 to 10 May 2013 from 8:30 to 16:00 daily
Target Audience

This course will be useful to Postgraduate students (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters & PhD) from higher learning institutions who are in the process of research proposal writing for their degrees. Thus it is advised that applicants should at least have a concept paper.
Training fee and Mode of payment
The training fee is Tsh 350,000/= per person for five (5) days. The fee does not include tea, refreshments and meals.
