Speaking to reporters in a brief news conference in
Dar es Salaam at the weekend, the committee Chair Karen Stanley has said that
the organizers are hopeful that they would raise more than Tsh 150m to Tsh 200m
compared to last year.

pleased to be able to welcome everyone once again to the event of the year- the
Dar es Salaam Charity Goat Races,”
“the aim is to have a wonderful day out whilst at
the same time raising huge amounts of money for charity, the charities that we
are supporting this year are based on health, education and vulnerable children
centre’s,’ she said.
She said that the goat races has gone strength
to strength, in 2001, they have raised Tsh 21m and supported 16 local
organizations.
Stanley added that
currently they are supporting fourteen charities across the country and they
are going to be given Tsh 10m to Tsh 15m to support the daily needs such as
foods, water, treatment or rehabilitation of schools toilets.
On his part, Commercial
Bank of Africa (CBA) Head of Marketing and Product Development, Aron Luhanga who
is one of the sponsors said that supporting charitable organizations has always
been their key objective in making sure that they build strong communities.
He said that the goat
races are right platform that would bring awareness to the public in assisting
local charity organizations with the aim of fostering social and economic
development.
Luhanga underscored
that his company would continue assisting the goat races in order to ensure a
bright future for the young people of Tanzania.
Punim Kanabar, Sales
Manager from Southern Sun Hotel alienated that without the strong communities
will not going to have a strong nation in the near future.
She went on to say
that supporting charitable causes has always been their key objective to ensure
that Tanzania has sustainable development in social and economic affairs.

Africa (CBA), Tigo, Coca Cola, EATV, Swiss Air, Toyota Tanzania, TBL, Symbion,
Advert Construction, Zoom Tanzania, Continental and Supplies Store.
