The Research4Life programmes and TEEAL training workshops seek
to increase the quality and effectiveness of research and education in
health, agriculture, environment and related biological and social
sciences, which would contribute towards improving food security in the
SSA region and encourage cross disciplinary collaboration between
agriculture, health and the environment. The expected outcome of the
workshops is to enable researchers, policy-makers, educators, librarians
and extension specialists have access to high quality, relevant and
timely information on research via the Internet, CD-ROM and
external hard disk.
WORKSHOP VENUE
The venue of the workshop is State University of Zanzibar, Zanzibar
COURSE CONTENT AND STRUCTURE
The workshop will be conducted over 4 days (21 – 24th October 2014).
The course will comprise lectures delivered in a classroom setting,
hands-on exercises and group work. Some of the exercises will involve
accessing relevant live websites and portals on the Internet and others
will be conducted offline. Each participant will have access to a
computer during the practical exercises.
PARTICIPATION
The
course is open to librarians, researchers, graduate students and
academic staff from selected institutions in Tanzania and Zanzibar. The
language of instruction is English. It is assumed that all participants
have basic computers skills and know how to use the Internet. No basic
computer modules will be covered during the training.
FUNDING AND FINANCE
This
course is supported by Research4Life and run by ITOCA. The sponsorship
for successful applicants/ will cover the cost of registration, light
refreshments and lunches for each participant. Participants travelling
from outside are expected to make and pay for their travel and
accommodation arrangements. They also will be expected to take care of
their dinner costs.
