POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Umoja Switch is a Tanzania's National switch of choice which was established in year 2006 with the main establishment reason being to implement a Shared Electronic Payment Transfer (EFT) infrastructure through a shared switch. Since its establishment, the network has recorded enormous growth in terms of both coverage and membership.

The number of members has increased from six (6) to twenty five (25) by April, 2014 (with both regional and multinational banks joining the network) The number of ATMs has increased from 30 to nearly 200

The service provision portfolio has increased by introducing agency banking, mobile banking, Integration with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) for mobile money provision as well as embarking into regional and international integrations.

UmojaSwitch is now a national-wide network covering all the regions both the Mainland and Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba).

UmojaSwitch has made an impact to the Tanzanian financial sector and the community by providing desired services while embracing the fundamental principle of sharing! It has also proven to be the most convenient network due to its flexibility in providing freedom of choice to its clients.

ICT Officer
Reports to: ICT & Operations Manager One Post

2.3 Key functions
Repairs and preventative maintenance of installed ATMs, POS and other payment hardware machines Attending customer queries both physically and through telephone, emails and other online means Conducting on-the-job training sessions for new candidates
Preparing operational and technical reports on an ongoing basis
Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical duties in support of the banks management information systems
Provide technical support to users
Troubleshoot hardware and software problems associated with banks computers and related equipment Installs hardware equipment's and software applications and performs related works as required. Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems
Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing data base environments
Writing users and operations manuals.
Performing routine audits of systems and software Responsible for documenting the configuration of the system Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running
Adding, removing or updating user account information, resetting passwords etc. Answering technical queries
Applying operating system updates, patches and configuration changes.


2.4 Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electronics & Communication or Electrical Engineering Prior experience in ATM field technical work or related fields, will be preferred
Practical understanding of operating systems and hardware maintenance is key
Must possess a high degree of personal integrity
Be self motivated, responsible and self-disciplined
Willingness to travel extensively
Ability to follow procedures and have a structured approach to problem-solving Fluency in both English and Kiswahili
