Our partner is an agricultural development company working in Ghana and Mozambique, soon to be expanding to Tanzania, with head offices in the UK. The company invests in a socially responsible manner to benefit smallholder farmers.

Management Accountant required for London HQ – some travel to Africa: £40-£50K depending on experience, pension contribution (5% of gross salary), permanent income insurance, life assurance and twenty-five days holiday.

(A more senior role can also be developed for an exceptional candidate that would involve developing the company’s financial systems across its portfolio countries, and to advise across the business on all accounting matters.)

Requirements Essential  Minimum of five years’ experience in financial systems & budgets, financial reporting, data analysis, auditing, taxation and financial advice  Experience in stock management  Understanding of investment instruments Desirable  Experience of the non-profit sector  Agriculture accountancy knowledge  Professional Qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA etc  Experience in grants and financial reporting for Donors

Role:
  • Oversee payment and coding of transactions in the accounts
  • Control and scrutiny of expense claims
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Month-end journal entries/accruals
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including integration
  • VAT filing & compliance
  • Maintain and reconcile PAYE (outsourced)
  • Managing audit procedures
  • Improve existing systems and processes
  • Design and implement schedules for Loans/Grants
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis including start-ups for local projects
  • Financial reporting to donors
Responsibilities and salary will be increased further in the case of the more senior role.
